Beauty The Blogger Made Me Buy It Tag

Hi beauty lovers!

I’ve seen this tag floating about, created by the lovely Danniella from famousinjapan, and although I wasn’t tagged in particular I thought that it would be quite a fun one to do. After all, the beauty blogging community is basically based around enabling each other right?

1) Who are your most influential bloggers? Who are the ones that you really rely on for reviews and swatches?

Hmm, if you look to your left you’ll see a blog roll of people I love. I enjoy all the bigger blogs like most people do, but I also enjoy girls like Beth from Birds Words, Kayleigh from  Couture Girl and Jenny from Jenny Purr because their reviews are always incredibly in depth and useful. Temptalia is a must for swatches – I don’t know anyone who even comes near her for this!

2) Do you buy a product solely as a result from one review from your favourite bloggers, or do you look for more reviews from others?

This really depends. I have one or two bloggers/youtubers who I know have the same type of skin as me, and whose opinion I trust without question and have never failed me. However, most of the time my interest will be piqued by one review, and then I will go on a mad google search looking for other reviews and swatches. I am quite careful with my money (most of the time), so I like to be super sure before I buy that I am going to like something.

3) What is your most favorite item that you have ever bought as a consequence of blogs?

Oh lord where do I even start with beginning this question? Erm, there are so many! My very favourite has got to be my introduction Urban Decay eyeshadows, which are without a doubt the best that I have ever used. Honourable mentions go to learning about acid toners, the brand Cane & Austin, MAC lipsticks and MAC Satin Taupe Eyeshadow.

4) What is your least favourite item that you have ever bought as a consequence of blogs?

The Maybelline Baby lips! I don’t think that I’ve ever used such a God awful product in my life! Seriously, what were these meant to do?

5) Name 5 products you have bought recently as a result of blogs.

Haha, I’m pretty sure that everything I buy is a result of blogs in one way or another. Last five would probably be: Tarte Maracuja Full Coverage Concealer; Josie Maran Cheek Gelee; Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara; Anastasia Brow Wiz; and the Cane & Austin Retexturising Pads.

6) Have you ever given into blogger hype? If so, which hype?

Name me a blogger that hasn’t and I’ll show you a liar! I’m quite savvy, but even I am not immune to a good bit of hype. The Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm, Clarins Toner and Seche Vite being some recent examples. I am sure there are a lot more.

7) Have you ever avoided blogger hype? If so, which hype?

Like I say, I’m pretty savvy, and still being a student I don’t have the  money to go all out in the way that others can. I’ve been holding back on NAKED 2 + 3, everything from the Charlotte Tilbury range and the new NARS Collection. I tend to only go for something when I think that it will really suit me and it will get a lot of use. Saves me having to sell it if I don’t like it!

8) Is everything you buy based on blogger reviews or are there some items you buy without checking out a review?

I would say that ever since I started reading blogs 5+ years ago they have been my main source of information and prompting for buying products. Pretty much 80% of the stuff that I buy is in some way influenced by the blogging world. Not that I think that this is a bad thing! I still have my little splurge occasionally when something looks super attractive to me, or I’ve never heard of it, and I pick it up on a whim!
